Welcome to Meadow View Elementary School

Dear Families,

On behalf of all the teachers and staff, I want to welcome you and your family to the 2010-2011 school year.   The academic success of our students depends on how well and how often we all work together focusing on their best interests.

Student achievement continues to be our primary focus.  We are committed to providing your child with the very best education possible.  All of our teachers are highly qualified and receive continual professional development to be sure they are using the most current teaching strategies to help your child become proficient in grade level standards and to constantly improve their English speaking, listening, writing and reading skills.  Our students increased the school's state API scores (on last spring's STAR test) by 20 points!

IMPORTANT CHANGES THIS YEAR:  All students will be dismissed at 2:40 p.m. on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday.   Every Wednesday is a Minimum Day, with dismissal for all students at 12:20 p.m.    Please use your best efforts to pick up your child(ren) at the correct dismissal times.  It is also very helpful if your child knows before he/she leaves home in the morning how they are getting home and who is picking them up after school so as to avoid miscommunication and crying children.

At Meadow View School, we strongly believe, and research supports this, that regular attendance is essential for student success.  In addition, a student's best preparation for the STAR and other standardized tests is regular daily attendance.  Every day counts.  In order for your child to reach proficiency at grade level standards, he/she needs to attend on a timely, regular basis. The benefit of lectures, discussion and participation is lost forever to those who are absent.  Please make regular attendance a priority for your child.

We also encourage you to use the Southwest Park parking lot as a pick up spot.  Those families who used the Park last year did not have to deal with parking lot issues at school, and all students were escorted by staff members.  Please talk to your child's teacher about using this option for pick up - avoid the traffic congestion.

If you have any questions, please call me at 541-3715.  We are looking forward to a positive, successful year where every child is safe, respectful and responsible in everything they do while at Meadow View.

Sincerely,

Terri Palladino
